The 47-year-old Dutch coach was dismissed on Saturday after one season in charge, despite guiding the club to a Premier League title in his debut campaign. Liverpool, however, finished fifth in the just-concluded season after a run of inconsistent performances.
In a farewell letter published by the Liverpool Echo, Slot expressed gratitude to fans for their unwavering support and reflected on his time at Anfield.
He said he was confident about the team’s future, noting that the current squad had laid a strong foundation for continued success.
Slot described qualification for the UEFA Champions League as a significant achievement, stressing its importance in maintaining the club’s competitiveness at the highest level.
He also highlighted the special bond he built with supporters, recalling his first experience at Anfield and the expectations that come with managing the club.
The former Feyenoord manager said winning the league title in front of fans was one of the most memorable moments of his career, adding that the shared celebrations made the achievement even more meaningful.
Slot further praised the unity shown by the Liverpool community during difficult periods, including the mourning of former player Diogo Jota, describing the support as “extraordinary.”
