Eight Farmers Killed in Fresh Sokoto Attack

Suspected bandits have killed eight farmers and injured five others in an attack on Ghandi community in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The attackers reportedly stormed the community around 3 p.m. on Sunday and opened fire on residents and farmers.

The spokesman for the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmed Rufai, confirmed the attack, saying eight farmers were killed while five others sustained gunshot injuries.

Rufai said the command was still gathering details of the incident.

A local source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the killing of some bandits during recent security operations in the area.

The latest attack has renewed concerns over the safety of farmers and residents in Ghandi and neighboring communities, which have faced repeated attacks by armed groups.
