The Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, Blessing Albert Ebhodaghe, has warned commercial drivers against wearing caps or other political materials not associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ebhodaghe issued the warning during a visit to the Onitsha Motor Park in Ekpoma, where he described it as a “standing warning” to drivers.
He said any driver found wearing materials belonging to another political party could be denied access to the park.
The chairman also distributed APC-branded caps to drivers during the visit.
Ebhodaghe linked the directive to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s campaign to secure 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Edo State in the 2027 presidential election. Okpebholo reiterated the 2.5 million-vote target during the September 4 inauguration of the state’s 18 newly elected local government chairmen.
The council boss also urged the drivers to support the governor and president, citing road projects carried out by the state government as a reason for their support.
He said improved roads had made it easier for commercial drivers to travel to destinations such as Onitsha and return to Edo to continue their businesses.
