Sharon Ademefun, elder sister of Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that she holds weekly financial meetings with the singer to monitor his spending.
Ademefun, who serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Davido Music Worldwide, said luxury cars and jewelry are among the purchases she frequently advises her brother to cut back on.
Speaking on The Morayo Show, she said the meetings are aimed at ensuring Davido understands how his money is being spent.
“Me and Davido sit and have a finance meeting every week because I think it is important for him to know how his money is being spent. I will now say, ‘David, please, no more cars.’”
She said her warnings do not always stop the singer from making new luxury purchases.
Ademefun also disclosed that she has been involved in Davido’s career since its early stages, initially as part of his management team. She said their close relationship allows her to challenge him on issues others may be reluctant to raise.
“The problem is that me and David were always fighting. If other people can’t tell him, me I’ll tell him,” she said.
She described her current role as a natural progression from her earlier involvement in his career, saying she now applies her business experience to help put more structure around his operations.
When asked whether she knew details about Davido’s wealth, Ademefun declined to comment, saying she had signed a non-disclosure agreement.
She also said Davido has a management team that handles his day-to-day logistics, but she sometimes steps in when she believes attempts to reduce costs could affect his comfort, particularly when travelling.
Ademefun further discussed her clothing business, Body Politics, which caters to women across sizes XXS to 5XL. She said she plans to focus on improving the existing business rather than expanding too quickly.
Her comments come as Davido continues to publicly showcase luxury purchases, including high-end cars and jewelry.
