The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has denied praying for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to win the 2027 presidential election.

Dachomo, who is currently in Israel on what he described as his first international Christian Advocacy Tour, made the clarification after reports suggested that he had prayed for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muslim-Muslim ticket.
In a social media post on Monday night, the cleric said his prayer was for Nigeria and its people, not for any political candidate to win the 2027 election.
He said his earlier prayer for the country had been misconstrued as an endorsement of Tinubu and Shettima.
“People are trying to frame me, saying I prayed for a Muslim-Muslim ticket. But I did not, and I will never pray for a Muslim-Muslim ticket because Nigeria belongs to both Muslims and Christians,” he said.
Dachomo added that he prays for both Muslims and Christians and wants Nigeria to succeed regardless of who leads the country.
His clarification comes days after reports from Israel said he had prayed for Tinubu, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and other African leaders during his visit. He has also said the trip is aimed at drawing international attention to killings and insecurity in Plateau State and seeking engagement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
