Nigeria’s crude oil production rose to 1.56 million barrels per day (bpd) in June 2026, exceeding its OPEC quota and marking the highest output level in over six years.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) disclosed that total production, including condensates, averaged 1.73 million bpd during the month, its fourth consecutive monthly increase. Crude oil accounted for 1.56 million bpd, while condensates contributed about 180,000 bpd.
According to the commission, the crude-only figure represents 104% of Nigeria’s 1.5 million bpd quota set by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and is the country’s highest level since April 2020.
Daily production peaked at 1.89 million bpd and dipped to a low of 1.57 million bpd within the month.
The NUPRC attributed the improved output to stable operations across oil assets and the absence of major pipeline disruptions, which boosted efficiency and production uptime.
It added that the performance signals Nigeria’s potential to reach its target of two million barrels per day in the near term.
