Chelsea Set EPL Record Despite Arsenal Defeat

Chelsea set a new Premier League record despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Morgan Rogers put Chelsea ahead after just 77 seconds, becoming the third consecutive league match in which the Blues scored within the opening five minutes.

Kai Havertz leveled for Arsenal in the 25th minute before captain Martin Ødegaard completed the comeback shortly after half-time.

The result ended Chelsea’s 100 per cent start to the season, while Arsenal maintained their perfect record with three wins from three matches.

Chelsea had also scored inside the opening five minutes in their previous two league games, with João Pedro netting after one minute against Fulham and Romeo Lavia scoring early against Brighton.

The feat makes Chelsea the first team in Premier League history to score within the first five minutes in each of their opening three league matches.
