Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has criticized Desola Afod over her complaint about being disrespected by colleagues in the Yoruba movie industry, advising her to drop her estranged husband’s surname if she believes it attracts disrespect.

The dispute followed a video in which Desola, 44, warned actors and actresses against addressing her by her first name, insisting that she deserved greater respect because of her age.
Reacting in a video shared on social media, Wumi faulted Desola for making general statements about theater practitioners instead of identifying those she accused of disrespecting her.
Wumi described the remarks as insulting to the industry, which she said had contributed to her career and livelihood. She urged Desola to mention the individuals involved rather than criticize practitioners collectively.
The actress also said she had previously remained silent during disagreements involving Desola out of respect for her estranged husband, actor Kunle Afod.
Wumi’s comments have added to the public dispute surrounding Desola’s remarks about respect and seniority in the Yoruba film industry.
