At least nine people have reportedly been killed in fresh attacks by suspected armed herdsmen on communities in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, while several others remain missing.

The attacks reportedly occurred late Friday in Tse-Nyaku, Tse-Biliji, and neighboring communities in Mbatian Council Ward, forcing residents to flee their homes.
Residents told local media that the attackers stormed the communities and opened fire. Earlier reports said six bodies had been recovered, but subsequent reports indicated that nine bodies had been found, raising concerns that the death toll could increase.
Efforts to obtain comments from Ukum Local Government Chairman Jonathan Modi were unsuccessful. An aide said the chairman was attending to victims of the attacks.
The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Peter Aondongu, said the command had yet to receive an official report from security personnel in the affected area.
