Barcelona have agreed a deal with Newcastle United for the transfer of winger Anthony Gordon in a package valued at £69.3 million (€80 million), including performance-related add-ons.
The England international is expected to travel to Spain to complete a medical ahead of finalising the move.
Gordon’s switch comes despite his strong performances last season, where he finished as Newcastle’s leading scorer with 18 goals.
Reports indicate he was not utilised in the club’s final matches of the campaign, a move understood to be precautionary amid ongoing transfer discussions.
Although Bayern Munich had shown prior interest, the German club is not expected to challenge for his signature.
Newcastle had earlier indicated the possibility of player sales as part of plans to strengthen their squad during the transfer window.
Gordon’s arrival could also impact the future of Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona and has expressed interest in remaining at the club beyond this season.
