Renowned Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, have lost one of their twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi.
In a statement released on Thursday by a family representative, Omawumi Ogbe, it was confirmed that the child died on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 21 months old.
The statement said the family is heartbroken by the loss and asked the public to respect their privacy during this painful time.
According to the family, they are mourning deeply and have requested prayers and understanding as they grieve in private. They also stated that no further comments will be made and thanked the public and the media for respecting their wish for privacy.
