The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled his campaign council ahead of the 2027 general election, with Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chairman and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as deputy chairman.
The council was announced on Thursday in a statement by Phrank Shaibu, Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Director of Strategic Communications for the campaign.
Senator Austin Akobundu was appointed Director-General and Campaign Manager, while veteran journalist and publisher Dele Momodu will head the Media and Communications Directorate as Deputy Director-General.
Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye was also named Deputy Director-General of the Contact and Mobilization Directorate.
The campaign structure comprises six major directorates and 30 directors with specific responsibilities, covering administration, operations, media and communications, mobilization, support groups, and technical and systems operations.
Former Edo State Governor and ex-APC national chairman John Oyegun will chair the Campaign Advisory Board, while economist and banker Mohammed Hayatu-Deen will lead the Policy Team. Members of the policy team include former CBN deputy governor Kingsley Moghalu.
The campaign said the structure was designed to reduce duplication and bureaucracy while focusing on issues including the cost of living, unemployment, insecurity, and declining purchasing power.
Atiku is running on the ADC platform with former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate.
