Troops of the Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA, have raided a suspected terrorist and kidnapping syndicate’s hideout in Anambra State, recovering firearms, ammunition, and materials suspected to be used in making improvised explosive devices.

The operation was carried out by troops of 185 Battalion in collaboration with the Anambra Vigilante Group following the abduction of three people around the Osakwa General Area of Ihiala Local Government Area. The victims were subsequently rescued.
The Nigerian Army said a follow-up operation on October 1 led to the arrest of a suspected kidnapper identified as Sunday Obi. Information obtained during interrogation reportedly led troops to the syndicate’s camp at Abator in Ogbaru Local Government Area, across the Isieke waterside.
Troops used canoes to cross the waterways and access the hideout, where they engaged the suspected terrorists. The Army said the suspects fled with gunshot wounds.
Recovered from the camp were two AK-47 rifles with magazines, three pump-action guns, three locally made Dane guns, 62 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and 149 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
Troops also recovered two cartridges, suspected IED-making materials, two mobile phones, solar panels, batteries, a solar generator, and a power bank.
The Army said follow-up operations were underway to arrest the fleeing suspects, their collaborators, and logistics suppliers.
It added that Operation UDO KA would continue working with other security agencies and local stakeholders to disrupt criminal networks and protect communities across the South-East.
