APC Completes Candidate Upload Ahead of INEC Deadline

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has completed the upload of its candidates for the 2027 general elections ahead of the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda disclosed this on Sunday, describing the early submission as a sign of the party’s preparedness and organizational strength.

INEC had initially fixed a deadline for political parties to submit candidates through its nomination portal but later granted a short extension following appeals from parties yet to conclude the process.

Yilwatda said the APC finalized its submissions before the original deadline, covering positions from the presidency to state assemblies. He noted that the process involved nationwide coordination across the party’s structures, including state chapters and election teams.

The APC had earlier confirmed uploading hundreds of candidates, including those for presidential and National Assembly positions.

The party said completing the process early allows it to shift focus to campaign planning, grassroots mobilization, and internal reconciliation ahead of the polls.

Nigeria’s 2027 general elections are expected to be closely contested, with parties required to complete candidate nominations within timelines set by INEC as part of the electoral calendar.
