After Months in Custody, Rolex Dee Regains Freedom

Nigerian singer Afunso Ridwan Abiola, popularly known as Rolex Dee, has regained his freedom after spending more than three months in detention over allegations involving Fuji musician Taye Currency.

His release was announced on Tuesday by MC Bokujaka, who led the social media campaign calling for his freedom.

In an Instagram post, MC Bokujaka described the development as a relief for the singer’s family, friends, and supporters, expressing hope that all parties would move forward peacefully.

Rolex Dee was arrested in April 2026 following allegations of defamation, cyberbullying, and threats to life linked to comments he allegedly made about Taye Currency during an appearance on the Agbaletu program. He was later released but rearrested in early July.

In August, the court granted him bail of N100 million, subject to conditions including two sureties. He remained in detention while the conditions were being perfected.

According to reports published on Tuesday, October 13, Rolex Dee has now fulfilled the bail conditions and been released. The legal proceedings are continuing, with the case adjourned until November 24.
