ADC Names Amaechi as Atiku’s Running Mate for 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally announced former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Amaechi is set to run alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the party’s presidential ticket.

The confirmation was made in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, following consultations with key stakeholders nationwide.

According to the party, the decision followed the conclusion of its presidential primary, in which Amaechi emerged as the runner-up.

The ADC described the pairing as a strategic alliance between experienced political figures with national reach and governance credentials.

It noted that Amaechi’s background in both legislative and executive roles — including his tenure as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, governor, and minister — positions him as a valuable addition to the ticket.

The party also expressed confidence that his political influence, particularly in southern Nigeria, would enhance its electoral strength and broaden nationwide appeal.

ADC further stated that the partnership aims to present a credible alternative focused on economic recovery, security, and national cohesion ahead of the 2027 polls.
