Police Issue Fresh Warning Over Kebbi-Sokoto Road Blockade

The Kebbi State Police Command has threatened to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in blocking the Kebbi–Sokoto Federal Highway, following another incident that disrupted traffic for about three hours on Friday, October 9.

The command said the latest blockade was the second recorded, after a similar incident on September 23, 2026.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, condemned the action, saying it restricted the movement of motorists, members of the public and people requiring emergency medical attention.

The police also warned that road blockades could create opportunities for criminal activities, urging aggrieved residents to seek redress through lawful channels, including elected representatives, traditional rulers and the Police Community Relations Committee.

Commissioner of Police Umar M. Hadejia appealed to residents to respect the rights of others and avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace. He also urged parents and guardians to discourage their children from participating in unlawful assemblies.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring the free movement of people and goods, warning that it would no longer tolerate road blockades under any circumstances.
