Chairman of the National Policy Dialogue, Abdulrahaman Musa-Ododo, has backed the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) over its rejection of the Rainbow Coalition led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Musa-Ododo said the APC governors, led by Imo State Governor and PGF Chairman Hope Uzodimma, acted appropriately by taking a collective position on the coalition.
Speaking on Arise News, he said the dispute should not be viewed as a clash between individuals but as a matter involving an established APC institution.
“PGF is an institution. It’s an established institution of the APC. They did the right thing constitutionally,” Musa-Ododo said.
The PGF recently said its members would not support any political alliance or arrangement capable of weakening the APC, undermining President Bola Tinubu’s re-election or affecting the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
Wike, however, has maintained that the Rainbow Coalition is a cross-party platform created to mobilize support for Tinubu’s re-election and is not affiliated with the APC. He also said the coalition would not prevent the PDP or other parties from fielding candidates in other elections.
Musa-Ododo argued that political power should be guided by principles and focused on national development, rather than pursued for its own sake.
He urged the APC governors to maintain their position on the coalition.
