Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe has responded to criticism over a viral video showing her interacting with fellow actor Jide Awobona at a movie premiere.
The clip, recorded at the Lagos premiere of A Mama Deola Wedding Story on September 2, showed Bimpe chatting with Awobona while her husband, actor Lateef Adedimeji, sat nearby. The video sparked social media speculation, with some users questioning the nature of their interaction.
Reacting on her Instagram Story, Bimpe described the interaction as a normal conversation between friends and said Awobona is a family friend.
She said her marriage to Lateef is built on trust, friendship, respect, and confidence rather than insecurity or constant monitoring.
“The fact that so many of you found that interaction strange says more about the relationships you’re used to than it does about mine,” she wrote.
Bimpe added that her husband is “a secure man” and that a brief conversation with a family friend poses no threat to their marriage.
She further stressed that “not every marriage is toxic” and said healthy marriages still exist.
