Terry Tips Konsa to Replace Saliba at Arsenal

Chelsea legend John Terry has backed new Arsenal signing Ezri Konsa to keep William Saliba out of Mikel Arteta’s starting XI even after the French defender returns from injury.

Speaking on the FC Bullard TikTok channel, Terry praised Konsa, who joined Arsenal from Aston Villa in a £51 million deal, with a further £4 million available in performance-related add-ons.

Terry, who previously worked with Konsa at Aston Villa, described the England international as an aggressive and quick defender who is comfortable defending high up the pitch.

“I would choose Ezri Konsa for Arsenal. That’s a tremendous signing,” Terry said. “Even when William Saliba returns to fitness, I don’t think he will regain his place in the Arsenal team. Konsa is simply that good.”

Konsa, 28, signed a four-year contract with an option for another year and was brought in to strengthen Arsenal’s defence following injuries to Saliba and Jurrien Timber.

The former Aston Villa defender made 286 appearances for the club and is expected to compete for a starting role alongside Gabriel when fully integrated into Arteta’s squad.
