Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has explained the club’s decision to sign Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United in a £75 million transfer.

Guimaraes, 28, was unveiled to fans at the Emirates Stadium ahead of a pre-season fixture after completing a long-term deal.
Speaking after the match, Arteta said the midfielder’s energy and ambition were key factors behind the move.
“I’m very happy to have Bruno with us. The energy he brings and his hunger to come here and make history with the club are important,” Arteta said.
“He has the ambition to take us to the next level.”
The Brazil international joins an already strong Arsenal midfield, with his versatility and work rate expected to strengthen the team as they aim to maintain their dominance in the Premier League.
Guimaraes left Newcastle after informing the club he wanted a new challenge, ending a successful spell that saw him become one of their key players.
