Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has said many Nigerian entertainers struggle to stay relevant because they fail to evolve or step back at the right time.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality Joey Akan, Iyke revealed that his former “bad boy” image was largely shaped by external influences within the entertainment industry. He explained that while the persona once worked in his favor, it eventually became limiting as his career and personal life progressed.
According to the actor, recognizing when an image or phase is no longer beneficial is key to long-term success. He noted that his decision to rebrand into a more refined and responsible personality helped him move forward and connect with new opportunities.
Iyke stressed that adaptability is essential in the entertainment industry, warning that stagnation often occurs when individuals hold on to outdated identities.
“The ‘bad boy’ image served its purpose,” he said, adding that letting go of it was necessary for growth and relevance.
