Social Media Personality DJ Chicken Faces Trial Over Alleged Threat

A Lagos Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja has arraigned social media personality Abiodun Ademola, popularly known as DJ Chicken, over an alleged threat to kill Seyi Tinubu.

Ademola, 37, was charged with threat to life, offensive online publication, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Prosecutors said the defendant posted a video on his social media accounts on July 5, allegedly threatening Seyi Tinubu and intending to incite fear. The video, which circulated widely online, had earlier sparked public outrage and calls for action.

The police also accused him of sharing a “grossly offensive and menacing” message, in violation of the Cybercrimes Act, adding that the content was capable of disturbing public order.

Ademola pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate M.F. Onamusi granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties. One surety must be a blood relative, while the other must be a recognized community leader or clergyman. Both are required to provide evidence of three years’ tax payments.

The case was adjourned until August 3 for further hearing.
