Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 10 of the 11 students and teachers abducted during an attack on a school in Borno State.
The victims were taken by suspected ISWAP fighters on Monday morning while writing the National Examinations Council (NECO) exams at a secondary school in Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area.
According to the military, troops launched a coordinated rescue operation involving ground forces, air support and surveillance systems shortly after the attack.
The assailants were tracked to the Daggu area, where troops engaged them in a gun battle and successfully freed 10 captives unharmed. The rescued victims are currently receiving care.
Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining abducted person and arrest those responsible.
During the operation, security forces recovered seven motorcycles used by the attackers and inflicted casualties on the group.
However, one soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed.
The military said security has been reinforced in the area, especially around schools, to prevent further attacks, and urged residents to share credible information with authorities.
