Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has announced that the state’s political crisis is now over, following a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Fubara, who officially resumed office on September 19 after the lifting of his suspension, said it was important to first brief the president and express gratitude before fully settling into his duties.
Speaking with State House correspondents, the governor described the engagement as a “father-son discussion.”
“Ideally, it’s proper for me to see Mr President and tell him that I’m back, and I’ve also resumed my responsibility as the Governor of Rivers State,” Fubara said. “It’s not much. It’s a father-son discussion—telling him thank you, and the areas where there should be any issues for him to guide me properly so we don’t be in any crisis.”
He added that President Tinubu offered him counsel on governance and stability, aimed at consolidating peace and progress in Rivers State.
