2027: Tinubu’s re-election will be easier than 2023 — Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will have an easier path to re-election in 2027 than he did in 2023.

Wike spoke on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The former Rivers State governor said securing Tinubu’s second term had become a major focus for him, urging residents to vote massively for the President.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s re-election,” Wike said.

He urged Rivers residents to put aside political sentiments and support Tinubu, citing what he described as the President’s development projects in the state and appointments of Rivers indigenes to key positions in his administration.

“Let us forget sentiment and vote for the person who has recognised the people of Rivers State with dividends of democracy and with several appointments,” he said.

Wike added that Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 would be easier than his 2023 victory and called on Rivers residents to ensure the President receives massive support.

The FCT minister also criticised opposition figures ahead of the election, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi and Peter Obi.

His comments come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with Wike positioning his political machinery in Rivers State behind Tinubu’s re-election bid.
