The African Democratic Congress, ADC, says it is confident of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general election if the poll is free and fair.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this during an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast.
Abdullahi said the ADC was not worried about the number of opposition groups, insisting that the party could win the election on its own, although a broader opposition coalition would make the task easier.
He, however, expressed concern over the credibility of the electoral process and said the party was preparing to protect its votes.
“We have no doubt in my mind that we win this election” in a free and fair contest, he said, adding that the party was “ready for anything.”
Abdullahi also accused the APC of planning to manipulate the election, a claim the ruling party has not accepted.
He cited recent remarks by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike that he could have helped deliver Osun State to the APC if President Bola Tinubu had wanted to win the governorship election “at all costs.”
According to Abdullahi, the comment raised questions about the role of political influence in elections.
The ADC spokesman said the party would therefore focus on ensuring its supporters’ votes are protected throughout the 2027 electoral process.
