Wike Disowns Report Linking Him to Abbo

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied endorsing Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Senator Ishaku Abbo, describing a social media report claiming his support as fake.

Wike’s position was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

The statement said a social media post had falsely quoted the minister as describing Abbo as the best candidate to lead Adamawa State and urging residents to make informed choices at the polls.

Wike insisted that he had neither endorsed Abbo nor any LP candidate in the state, adding that he had no relationship with the party or its candidates in Adamawa.

He urged residents to disregard the report, saying he would personally announce his preferred candidate if he decided to endorse anyone.

Abbo, a former senator representing Adamawa North, is seeking to become governor of the state in the 2027 general election on the LP platform.
