Troops Kill 16 Terrorists, Repel Attacks in Adamawa

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have killed 16 terrorists and recovered weapons during operations in Adamawa State.

The operations, conducted between September 30 and October 1, covered parts of Sector 4, including the Boima area of Gombi Local Government Area, according to the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni.

Goni said troops ambushed a terrorist enclave in Boima, killing 16 terrorists. They subsequently recovered three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, one Dane gun, six AK-47 magazines, and a belt of pump-action cartridges.

The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI also carried out a precision air strike after surveillance detected about 16 terrorists and 15 motorcycles under a tree canopy in the area. The military said the strike, conducted at about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, destroyed the target, while some surviving terrorists fled.

Troops also repelled coordinated attacks on the 226 Battalion in Garkida and 232 Battalion in Garaha. The attackers were forced to withdraw following the military’s response.

However, three soldiers were killed during the engagements, while wounded personnel were evacuated for medical treatment.

The military said mop-up operations were ongoing across the affected areas and urged residents to provide security agencies with credible information to support ongoing operations.
