The Northern Regional Police Command in Ghana has arrested two Nigerian nationals in connection with the murder of a 36-year-old Nigerian man in Tamale.
The suspects, identified as Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were apprehended on Saturday, July 11, 2026, following the death of Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze. His body was discovered in his residence at Sanzirigu, a suburb of Tamale.
Police said the deceased shared a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects, and another Nigerian national, Godwin Nwafor.
Officers launched an investigation after receiving a report that the victim had been found lying in a pool of blood inside his bedroom. A preliminary examination revealed a deep cut to his forehead, with a towel stuffed in his mouth. The room had also been ransacked.
Investigators recovered a wooden pestle suspected to have been used in the attack, along with other items for forensic analysis. The body was later transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead and subsequently deposited in the morgue for an autopsy.
Police said intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of the suspects in Tatale as they attempted to flee to neighboring Togo. They were later transferred to the Tamale District Criminal Investigations Department.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly admitted to conspiring to kill the victim, accusing him of withholding proceeds from suspected internet fraud activities.
A search conducted after their arrest led to the recovery of items believed to have been stolen from the victim, including mobile phones, laptops, a tablet, jewelry, clothing, wristwatches, and personal documents.
The suspects remain in police custody and were expected to be arraigned in court on Monday, July 13, 2026, as investigations continue.
