Super Falcons Secure Quarter-Final Spot with 6–2 Win Over Egypt

Nigeria’s Super Falcons cruised into the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 6–2 victory over Egypt.

The nine-time African champions delivered a dominant attacking performance, sealing qualification to the knockout stage in emphatic fashion.

Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time, before Gift Monday doubled the lead in the 55th minute. Egypt responded with a penalty converted by N. Ghazy, but Uchenna Kanu restored Nigeria’s two-goal cushion in the 81st minute.

Chidinma Ucheibe extended the advantage from the spot three minutes later to make it 4–1. Ghazy grabbed her second goal in stoppage time, briefly reducing the deficit, but Nigeria finished strongly.

Rasheedat Ajibade converted a late penalty before Joy Omewa added a sixth goal to complete the rout.

The result confirms Nigeria’s place in the quarter-finals, where they will face Cameroon, Group D winners, as they continue their quest for another continental title.
