Shock as Ex-Nigeria U-17 Star Victor Udoh Dies at 21

Former Nigeria U-17 international Victor Udoh has passed away at the age of 21.

His death was confirmed by his former clubs, Southampton F.C. and Royal Antwerp F.C., both of which paid tribute following reports of his passing.

Udoh was reportedly discovered dead in his Abuja residence on Tuesday morning after spending the previous evening with friends. While there are unverified claims suggesting possible food poisoning, the exact cause of death had not been officially confirmed at the time of reporting.

Born on October 18, 2004, Udoh represented Nigeria at the 2021 WAFU U-17 Championship in Togo, where the team finished as runners-up after losing 3–2 to Ivory Coast in the final.

He primarily played as a left-back during the tournament before later transitioning into an attacking role during his professional career abroad.

In 2023, he moved from Abuja-based Hypebuzz FC to Royal Antwerp F.C., where he made an immediate impact, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances for the club’s youth side and featuring for the senior team.

He later joined Southampton F.C. in February 2025, making appearances for the club’s U-21 side in Premier League 2.

Following his stint in England, Udoh signed for Czech side SK Dynamo České Budějovice, continuing his professional development in Europe.

Tributes have continued to pour in, with both clubs expressing condolences to his family and loved ones.
