Nigerian Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has explained why he avoids flaunting his wealth and achievements on social media, saying he does not want young people to feel pressured by his success.

Speaking in an interview with Jam FM, the 26-year-old singer said many young people look up to him and aspire to achieve similar success.
Rema said he is mindful of his influence and does not want others to compare themselves with him or feel compelled to achieve success before their time.
“Everybody has their time, but some people just want to rush it because they see their fellow young person doing well,” he said.
The singer also criticized the pressure parents place on children by comparing them with others and pushing them to pursue careers they may not want.
He said he prefers to keep his lifestyle simple, adding that his most extravagant possessions are perhaps his chains and watches.
Rema urged young people to focus on their individual journeys rather than measure their progress against the achievements of others.
