Afrobeats singer B-Red, son of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, says his family is not involved in politics for financial gain, arguing that the Adeleke family already has generational wealth.
Speaking on the Echo Room podcast, B-Red said his father and other family members entered politics to help people rather than make money.
He expressed confidence that Nigeria would improve significantly if his father eventually became president, although he said he would not want him to seek the presidency because of the pressure that comes with the office.
“If my dad, Governor Ademola Adeleke, becomes the President of Nigeria, things will improve drastically. We don’t need politics for money; we have been rich for a long time. My family is only in politics to help,” he said.
The Adeleke family has a longstanding presence in Nigerian politics and business. The late Isiaka Adeleke, Ademola’s elder brother, was Osun’s first civilian governor and later served as a senator, while Ademola Adeleke served in the Senate before becoming governor in 2022.
The family also has strong business and entertainment ties, with businessman Adedeji Adeleke and his son, music star Davido, among its prominent members.
