The Gombe State Police Command has rescued an eight-year-old boy abducted in Akko Local Government Area and arrested four suspects linked to the crime.

Police spokesperson DSP Buhari Abdullahi said the child was reported missing on June 28 after leaving home the previous morning and failing to return. Detectives immediately launched a search and began tracking leads.
A false tip received by the family on June 29 briefly delayed efforts, but intelligence-led operations led to a breakthrough the following day. Police arrested a suspect, Abdullahi Mohammed, in Kumo, Akko LGA, whose confession led to the arrest of three accomplices in Gombe.
The child was found in the suspects’ custody and rescued unharmed. He has since been reunited with his family, while investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police, Umar Ahmed Chuso, commended officers for their swift response and urged residents to support security agencies with timely information.
In a related development, police in Ondo State rescued a 61-year-old woman abducted in Owo, following a rapid operation led by Commissioner Felix Ohagwu.
