Nigerian TikToker and streamer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has described his time in police custody as distressing, claiming he went days without food or basic hygiene.
The 21-year-old was arrested in the Lekki area of Lagos after a confrontation with police officers over a tinted vehicle without a number plate.
He was later arraigned alongside a co-defendant, Bello Oladipo, on charges including obstruction of police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
A Lagos Magistrates’ Court subsequently granted him bail of ₦500,000, ending his detention, which lasted about four days.
Speaking after his release via Snapchat, Peller said he did not eat or bathe for most of the period he spent in custody.
“I slept in the cell for almost four days… I didn’t eat or bathe,” he said, adding that the experience was his first time in detention.
He also noted that other detainees recognized him and nicknamed him “001.”
The TikToker said the incident has made him more cautious, especially as he prepares for his upcoming wedding.
A viral video recorded during his arrest showed Peller accusing police officers of harassment, alleging they pointed a gun at him before taking him into custody.
