NDLEA Arrests 101-Year-Old Cannabis Dealer in Ogun

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 101-year-old woman, Esther Ogunmabo, for allegedly selling cannabis in Ilisan, Ogun State.

Ogunmabo was arrested on August 15, 2026, with 90 grams of skunk, a strain of cannabis, packaged in small quantities for sale, according to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi.

The agency said the centenarian admitted selling the substance to residents and told investigators she turned to the illicit trade after a fire destroyed her provisions shop.

She reportedly said one of her daughters, who lives in Lagos, supplied her with cannabis every four days for resale in smaller quantities. The daughter has also been arrested, according to the NDLEA.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), directed that Ogunmabo be granted bail and referred for counselling because of her advanced age.

The arrest was part of a wider NDLEA crackdown that also recorded drug seizures and arrests across several states and Nigeria’s land and maritime borders.
