The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has strengthened its air presence in Sokoto State as part of intensified operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities across the North-West.
NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the increased deployment would support ongoing joint security operations by improving aerial surveillance, rapid response, and air support for ground troops.
He said the move was particularly important in countering terrorists and bandits who exploit difficult terrain, mobility, and concealment to evade ground forces.
According to him, the NAF would use the speed, reach, and precision of airpower to locate and disrupt hostile elements, restrict their movement, and create opportunities for ground forces to consolidate their operations.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the evolving security situation required timely intelligence, responsive airpower, and closer coordination between air and ground forces.
Aneke said the NAF would continue working with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to disrupt terrorist and criminal networks, protect communities, and restore peace across the North-West.
He also urged Nigerians to provide security agencies with timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
