A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has accused President Bola Tinubu of exercising excessive political control, comparing his administration to that of former military ruler, General Sani Abacha.

Momodu made the remarks on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, alleging that Tinubu was coercing Nigerians to maintain his hold on power.
“President Tinubu has done far worse than what Abacha did,” he said.
The ADC chieftain also alleged that Tinubu had extended his influence across the executive, legislature and judiciary.
Momodu’s comments come amid growing political debate over the state of Nigeria’s democracy and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
