Military, DSS, Police Rescue 20 NYSC Members in Imo

Security agencies have rescued 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and one other hostage who were abducted in Imo State.

The victims were rescued in an intelligence-led joint operation involving the military, Department of State Services (DSS), police, and other security agencies.

The 20 prospective corps members were among passengers abducted on October 1 along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in the Umunoha area of Imo State while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to NYSC orientation camps.

Following the abduction, security agencies launched coordinated search operations, with earlier efforts leading to the rescue of some victims and the recovery of the two buses involved.

The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention at a DSS facility in the state, where their condition is being monitored.

The latest rescue brings to an end days of intensified security operations to locate the remaining abductees and apprehend their captors.
