Lagos Moves to Prevent Disputes with Border Signs

The Lagos State Government has begun installing boundary signposts across the state to prevent disputes between neighboring communities and bordering states.

The initiative was announced on Monday by the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, which said the signs would help prevent boundary encroachment and promote peaceful coexistence.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Kikelomo Bolarinwa, said the installations would follow official boundary specifications provided by the Office of the Surveyor-General.

She added that clearly marked boundaries would help ensure residents of border communities are properly covered by government welfare programs and infrastructure projects, while supporting local economies and improving living conditions.

The signposts have been installed in Eredo-Epe, around Mojoda, along Itokin-Ijebu Ode Road, Ikorodu-Shagamu Road, Ojodu-Alagbole Road, Owode-Apa Road and the Seme border.

Bolarinwa urged residents to protect the installations, warning that anyone found destroying the signposts would face punishment.

The government said the exercise supports its T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, particularly efforts to improve rural communities and promote development across Lagos.
