At least four people have been killed, and a soldier is missing following a fresh bandit attack in Tudun Bicci community, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The victims, identified as two forest guards and two civilians, were killed during a gun battle between security personnel and suspected bandits who reportedly attacked farmers in the area.
Chairman of Danko/Wasagu LGA, Hussaini Aliyu Bena, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, clarifying that no soldier was killed, contrary to earlier reports, but one remains unaccounted for after the clash.
Bena said security forces engaged the attackers, killing several of them, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
He attributed the recurring attacks to bandits operating from camps in neighboring Zamfara and Niger states, noting that joint security efforts have been intensified to curb the violence.
The council chairman urged residents to remain calm and support security agencies with credible information, expressing optimism that ongoing operations would restore peace.
As of the time of reporting, the Kebbi State Police Command had not issued an official statement.
