The Katsina State Police Command has presented cheques totalling N28.01 million to the families of 25 police officers who died in the line of duty.
The cheques, worth N28,012,584.70, were presented by the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, at the command headquarters on Tuesday.
The payment was made under a welfare package initiated by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu for families of officers who lost their lives while serving the country.
Fage expressed condolences to the beneficiaries and described the deceased officers as dedicated personnel who paid the ultimate price in service.
He urged the families to use the funds wisely to meet their immediate needs and support their future.
One of the beneficiaries, Alkasim Salisu, thanked the IGP and the Katsina police command for the assistance and pledged that the money would be used judiciously.
