Katsina Assembly Backs Governor Radda’s 2027 Budget

The Katsina State House of Assembly has pledged to fast-track consideration and passage of Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s proposed ₦828.64 billion 2027 budget.

Speaker Nasir Yahaya Daura made the commitment on Tuesday while responding to the budget presentation at the Assembly Chamber in Katsina.

The budget, tagged “Building Your Future IV,” allocates ₦637.91 billion, representing 76.98 percent, to capital expenditure, while ₦190.73 billion is earmarked for recurrent spending.

Daura described the presentation as significant, noting that it was the final budget of Governor Radda’s first tenure and the last budget to be received by the 8th Assembly.

He said the cordial relationship between the executive and legislature had contributed to developments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and human capital development.

The Speaker said the Assembly had passed more than 50 bills and carried out several oversight activities during its tenure, assuring Governor Radda that lawmakers would scrutinize the 2027 proposal and pass it within the shortest possible time.

Daura also declared the Assembly’s support for Governor Radda’s second-term bid, as well as President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

He noted that the budget presentation would be his final appearance as Speaker of the 8th Assembly and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.

Governor Radda had earlier urged lawmakers to expedite consideration of the budget, describing the relationship between the executive and legislature as vital to good governance. Katsina Assembly Backs Radda’s 2027 Budget
