Indonesia Woos Global Buyers With $17.5bn Trade Target

Indonesia is targeting $17.5bn in potential transactions at its 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026 after 168 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth $13.2bn were signed with prospective buyers from 22 countries.

The agreements were signed on Wednesday, October 14, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition in BSD City, Tangerang, according to the country’s Ministry of Trade.

President Prabowo Subianto, represented at the opening by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, expressed confidence that the expo would surpass its target, citing the competitiveness of Indonesian products and efforts to expand access to international markets.

The five-day exhibition features 1,873 exhibitors showcasing food, agricultural products, manufactured goods, fashion, furniture and other items. Organisers are targeting 30,000 visitors and buyers from 134 countries.

Indonesia is also seeking to strengthen trade ties with Nigeria and other West African countries. Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria Bambang Suharto said 101 participants from West Africa had arrived for the event, while preliminary agreements worth $10m had been recorded ahead of the opening.

The government hopes the expo will boost exports, attract investment and expand Indonesian businesses’ access to international markets.

The $13.2bn in MoUs represents potential business commitments and should not be interpreted as completed transactions.
