The Federal Ministry of Finance has warned newly recruited staff to ignore a fraudulent message demanding a N50,000 resumption fee.

In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Efe Ovuakporie, described the message as a scam aimed at exploiting unsuspecting applicants. The notice, titled “Administrative Update and Compliance Notice for Newly Recruited Staff,” falsely claimed that new employees must pay a non-refundable administrative fee before resuming duty.
The ministry clarified that it did not issue any such directive and that no payments are required at any stage of its recruitment or onboarding process. It stressed that all hiring is conducted in line with established Federal Civil Service procedures.
Prospective and newly recruited staff were advised to disregard the message and avoid sharing personal or financial information with fraudsters. The ministry also urged anyone who receives the notice to report it to law enforcement agencies or through official government channels.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and integrity, the ministry called on Nigerians to verify employment-related information through official sources before taking action.
