The Federal Government has commissioned a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion center in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, described as the first of its kind in the South-East.
The facility was commissioned on behalf of President Bola Tinubu by the Minister of State for Industry, John Owan-Enoh.
Owan-Enoh said the center was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to promote technical skills, industrial development, and job creation, particularly in Nigeria’s automotive sector.
He urged Ebonyi youths to take advantage of the facility to acquire automotive and CNG conversion skills that could enable them to establish businesses and create jobs.
Governor Francis Nwifuru described the project as a partnership between the state and Federal Government, saying his administration was investing in infrastructure, technology, and human capital to support productive enterprises.
Nwifuru also urged young people to embrace technical and vocational training while calling on investors and development agencies to explore opportunities in the state.
The Chairman of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) Board, Chief Emmanuel Eneukwu, and its Director-General, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, commended the partnership and called for continued collaboration between both levels of government.
The NADDC lists a certified CNG conversion center in Abakaliki as part of Nigeria’s expanding network of CNG conversion facilities.
