Rafiu Durosinmi believes Genk can challenge for the Belgian Pro League title despite their slow start to the season.
Genk currently sit ninth with nine points from six matches, having recorded two wins, three draws, and one defeat.
The Nigerian striker, who has scored five goals in six league appearances, said the team must improve if they are to compete for the title.
“This is absolutely not where we want to be,” Durosinmi told Walfoot. “I am convinced that we will soon return to the top of the rankings. As a team, we just have to do better.”
Durosinmi added that Genk have the quality and commitment within their squad to compete with the teams at the top of the table.
“We want to play for the three points because our goal is to fight for the title. We are also capable of it,” he said.
Genk’s next league fixture is away to defending champions Club Brugge on September 20.
