Defence Headquarters Reports Progress in Anti-Terror Campaigns Nationwide

Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has announced significant progress in ongoing military operations across multiple regions, highlighting intensified efforts against insurgent and criminal groups.

Speaking in Abuja, Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, said troops carried out coordinated missions between June 4 and June 11, 2026, targeting terrorist networks and other security threats nationwide.

In the North-East, forces under Operation Hadin Kai sustained pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP elements through clearance operations and disruption of supply routes. During these operations, hundreds of civilians were rescued, including 360 individuals—mainly women and children—freed during a large-scale raid in the Mandara Mountains area of Borno State.

Several abductees also escaped from terrorist camps amid sustained bombardments, while others were intercepted and safely reunited with their communities after receiving medical care.

Troops recorded further successes with the surrender of a suspected insurgent and the arrest of multiple collaborators and logistics suppliers across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states. Recovered items included weapons, ammunition, and materials linked to terrorist operations.

In the North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma reported progress with the arrest of suspected criminals, including an alleged arms trafficker, during operations in Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara states.

Similarly, operations in the North-Central and South-East led to the dismantling of suspected criminal networks and the arrest of key informants, as security forces intensified actions against insurgents and other threats.

The Chief of Defence Staff commended troops for their resilience and professionalism, reaffirming the military’s commitment to restoring peace and stability across the country.
