A video of President Bola Tinubu and members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) trended on Monday, showing them reciting Nigeria’s former national anthem, “Arise, O Compatriots,” during a council meeting in Abuja.

The video, which circulated on social media, showed the President and cabinet members singing the anthem that was used from 1978 until May 29, 2024.
The Federal Government had earlier reinstated “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” as the country’s official anthem after Tinubu signed the National Anthem Act, 2024, into law. The move restored the anthem originally adopted at Nigeria’s independence in 1960.
However, the presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, while reacting to the development, said it was a recording from one of its old meetings
